If Uncharted rose to fame with weapons it stole from washed-out Tomb Raider (before its reboot), Shadow of the Tomb Raider grabs them back, making it visually and gameplaywise the most essential action-adventure you can imagine. It not only builds upon the series legacy, it goes to its roots and successfully brings back the exploration that we were busy not to even notice was missing while tackling through many exciting action set pieces of the previous games. Doing so, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the most poignant entry in the long series since the very first game.

There is a noticeable emphasis on the narrative. Although Shadow of the Tomb Raider modifies what we've grown accustomed to within the franchise, the change of pace is welcomed. You'll find pockets of open-world to explore, with tons of side-quests and interactions with NPCs. Don't expect guns-a-blazin', but do expect getting more than you bargained for from this Tomb Raider experience.

Some of the physics could have been better, but overall, it’s going to probably be one of the most beautiful games in 2018. It would be interesting to see where the story goes from here. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the highlight of the series, and topping it will be difficult.

Despite some frame-rate stutters, slight audio-visual desyncs, and the occasional bad texture rendering, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is eerie, challenging, thoughtful, compelling, and downright fun.

The new Tomb Raider shows Lara Croft as an empty character that has nothing inside.
  6. Shadow of the Tomb Raider doesn't have much to offer compared to the recent games. However, if you are a fan of the Tomb Raider series, you will enjoy it.

Tomb Raider was personal because it was personal. But now it’s come full circle to yet another vapid videogame character muddling through bad writing, rote familiar gameplay, and fewer features than the last time. Wake me when the next reboot is here.

For me it's the best one in the new trilogy.

They used their experience gained in development of first and second game and created third one. I don't understand why it's for a lot of people 6-7/10. I expected that it will be another game for people who loved rise of the tomb raider and it's exactly game for such people.
I had a great time with this game 10/10, better than action movies in a cinema. I think it's not Uncharted 4, but it's close, really close to Naughty Dog games.
And the story is surprising for lara's fanbase. Maybe that's why people don't accept it.

The scenery’s are stunning, and the jungle feels alive around you. I often find myself just admiring the view everywhere I go. Gameplay wise It is very similar to the previous two games. There is a much bigger focus on exploration in this entry and the tombs are bigger and much better designed. If you don’t like the survival instincts highlighting all the walls you can climb then I’m pretty sure you can make the difficulty harder to turn those off. The game itself is massive as well. The story is massively over the top but very very enjoyable and feels very high stakes. There was one particular moment early in the game after Lara sets off a series of events that actually shocked me. I won’t spoil it but It definitely shocked me and I wasn’t expecting it. Lara’s buddy Jonah plays a much bigger role in this game but is still pretty much Lara’s side kick. But I must say that I found his voice actor does a great job this time around and Camilla Luddington again does a great job as the voice of Lara. I honestly can’t recommend this game enough. A must buy especially if you enjoyed the previous two. I’m hoping that this is not the end of these amazing games and that another will be made in the future.

Graphics are stunning - some of the best I have seen in places.
Sound as well is great - with guns sounding much better than the last 2 games in the series.
I played through the game in 11 hours - and I found it enjoyable.
    Some truly great moments.
This said - it is not perfect
    - Very easy - a bit too easy in places.
    - Very limited interactivity for a lot of the game. Ie. HEAPS of cutscenes (more than the last 2), and sections where you are just pressing "up" for example to climb through a tight area.
    - Extremely linear (by design) - not much in the way of exploration
    - Story is not great. (similar to the last 2)

Overall - Pros exceeded the Cons for me - and I consider it a good experience worth having

I really want to give this game an 8 or even a 9, but the issues set the game back too far.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider does a lot of things right, but also does some things that were done "okay" in the previous 2 titles far, far worse.

Pacing is an absolute nightmare. You constantly feel like you're being shoved along through the story and any emotional moments feel like they don't stick and are swiftly forgotten.

Traversal, this is the first in the series where i've had issues with the controls while climbing. Almost all of my deaths have been due to Lara not jumping far enough(in a scripted event) or just plain refusing to latch onto a wall.

Combat, while I appreciate the game going back to its roots of less human enemies and more animal enemies. It also made encounters primarily stealth, with terrible AI and if seen, you end up fighting the most aggressive enemies I have ever encountered to a point where it feels pointless to use anything other than a shotgun for most of the game. Melee attacking is far worse and the bow received a very, very heavy reduction in power from previous titles.

Graphics, no complaints here other than it being extremely heavy on the CPU load with a lot of stuttering without external tweaking. Game looks amazing and blatantly better than the previous 2 games.

Sadly, this was not the conclusion to the trilogy I had hoped for. Lara STILL has a lot to learn and honestly, her voice actor feels like her only emotions are anger and gasping for air.

-> you had a bad-skilled woman trying to make feminist-apllying plot. twice. she failed. twice. now you swap her. ON THE BAD-SKILLED WOMAN-> you had a bad-skilled woman trying to make feminist-apllying plot. twice. she failed. twice. now you swap her. ON THE BAD-SKILLED WOMAN that is known for 2 bad side-games of assassins about a girl and black guy. i dont know, somehow the devs didnt learn their lesson.
-> lara got a 40+ years old woman face. idk why.

-> they shifted focus to exploration and tombs, but forgot about the action and adventure in action-adventure game.
-> fights take like 10% of the game. yet still your skill-trees are all about fights. (need more fights)
-> lack of new mechanics. which is not extremely bad, would be fine if other parts of the game were made better.

-> game still takes itself really seriosly while being extremely cliched and bad-written. but unlike RotTR where it was so bad that it was funny now its just boring-bad kind of thing.
-> the plot works same way in all 3 games.

    look:

    - Tomb Raider (TR) - we shipwreck, we stay 1 on 1 with nature, craft-survive.
    - Rise of the Tomb Raider (RoTR) - avalanche, we stay 1 on 1 with nature, craft-survive.
    - Shadow of the Tomb Raider (SoTR) - we suffer air strikes, we stay 1 on 1 with nature, craft-survive.

In all three parts, we pump about the same skills. Every time we find the right subject on the plot, a cutscene is included, in which the evil guys from the Trinity organization come and take our find.

The leader of the local population in the Siberian wilderness in RoTR is a girl. In SoTR, the leader of the local population of Paititi is also a girl. In Han Solo, the leader of the resistance is also a girl ... oh, not there. Well, you understand.

Before the final boss in the first two parts, we run through a huge city, which collapses before our eyes. Everywhere fight soldiers of the resistance / mythical warriors and Trinity. Exactly the same garbage (if not say 1 in 1) is happening here. Only instead of zombie warriors we have here a local sect about which legends go. Half-naked guys with darts give a strong fight to soldiers with assault rifles and helicopters.

-> What did I learn after finishing the Shadow of the Tomb Raider? I still do not know who is the leader of Trinity and what their goals are.

its not-well-made end of not-well-made reboot.
